The potency...I have kept spices for over 10 years. The potency diminished a little by the end but then I just added 1-1/2 tsp instead of 1 tsp. This adventure is helping me ket to the bottom of some of my jars. It is a great feeling. I don't think you will use spices that you put in a #10 can. The plastic containers in a dark cool corner cupboard seem to hold fine. I think you should use what you buy.Crystal J. The breeder recommended it and when we moved to Omaha and there was not Costco, the dog was unhappy. It is some of the cheapest dog food I have seen and provides him with a shiny coat.
